My current research examines the intergenerational transmission of memories of the violent past and armed conflict within the Kurdish diaspora in Germany. It explores how memories of violence are remembered, silenced, and mobilized in diasporic contexts, and through which media such memories are conveyed across generations. I also analyse how these memories shape identity and memory practices among second-generation Kurds. By examining how memories of past violence travel across borders, interact with the memory politics of the host country, and shape memory activism in the diaspora, I aim to contribute to discussions on memories of violence from an intergenerational and transnational perspective.
