David Luquetta

I am particularly interested in how violence transforms territories and how peace can be built while violence remains active.

Urban violence, territorial transformations of armed conflict, and emerging approaches to peacebuilding are at the center of my research at TraCe. I am particularly interested in the changing relationships between state institutions, armed actors, illegal markets, local elites, and communities, and in how these relationships produce specific territorial configurations of violence and power. Drawing on research and ongoing peacebuilding processes in the Colombian Caribbean, I study participatory methodologies for urban peace, with particular attention to Barranquilla and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. My work combines critical ethnography, territorial analysis, and applied research to examine how locally grounded approaches can contribute to peacebuilding in contexts where violence remains active.
