Australia’s Genocide Discourse and Aboriginal Politics

Political Lunch at PRIF with Sally Ghattas and comments by TraCe Visiting Fellow A. Dirk Moses

On July 8, thirty researchers and colleagues came together at PRIF for a Political Lunch with Sally Ghattas from the University of Sydney. Her input explored the “Genocide Discourse and Aboriginal Politics in Australia”.

In her presentation she explained how the term “genocide” has been taken up in Australian political discourse. She especially highlighted the perspectives of the First Nations Activists, the legal framing and the ongoing contestations in the context of reconciliation. Afterwards, TraCe Visiting Fellow (June till July) A. Dirk Moses from The City University of New York commented on the input, before opening the floor for questions and discussions.
