While war and violence seem to be omnipresent in the media, other forms of violence are widely invisible or intentionally made invisible. What structures of power and image regimes are concealed behind this mechanism of (in)visibility?
The group exhibition “(In)Visibility of Violence” sheds light on these dynamics. It continues discussions that were already addressed in the last cooperation, a dialogue panel with and in the Kunsthalle Giessen as part of the TraCe annual conference on “Depictions of Excessive Violence”. The Justus Liebig University Gießen newspaper uniforum also reported on the collaboration (available as a PDF).
The exhibition will open on August 22, at 7 pm and can be visited at the Kunsthalle Giessen until November 2, 2025. Entry is free of charge.
