Tracing Political Violence in Postcolonial Architecture

Upcoming lecture by Anoma Pieris on political violence in the context of postcolonial architecture

Modern architecture and the built environment have been organized by networks of colonial power. The lecture series “Organizing Architectures: Coloniality” examines modernist architecture and urban planning in light of Coloniality. It is organized by the interdisciplinary DFG-funded research training group “Organizing Architectures”, that addresses the tension between architectural production and social processes in their work.

TraCe Advisory Board Member Anoma Pieris will give the opening lecture “Tracing Political Violence in Postcolonial Architecture” on November 26, 2025. Anoma Pieris is Professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning at the University of Melbourne.
