Practicing Norm Localization in the International Human Rights Regime

Fourth contribution on the TraCe lecture series “Transformations of Political Violence: New Perspectives”

The fourth and last presen­tation of the summer se­mester for the TraCe lec­ture series will be held by Adam Kochanski from the University of Guelph, Canada. Adam Ko­chanski is an Assis­tant Professor in the Depart­ment of Political Science at the Uni­versity of Guelph. He re­ceived his Ph.D. in Po­litical Science from the Uni­versity of Ottawa, with a speciali­zation in Inter­national Re­lations. His research fo­cuses on tran­sitional justice, post-conflict peace­building, and inter­national norms. For the TraCe lec­ture series, he will exa­mine how the prac­tice of norm locali­zation works in the Inter­national Human Rights Re­gime.

The lec­ture series “Trans­formations of Political Vio­lence: New Perspectives” show­cases new approaches to the changing forms, insti­tutions, and inter­pretations of political vio­lence as they are studied within TraCe. It brings to­gether perspec­tives from history, sociology, po­litical sciences, and cul­tural studies with ac­tivist voices.

The presen­tation takes place at Cam­pus Westend and will be held in Eng­lish. There will be no live stream, but the event will be re­corded.
